1. What is your area of expertise?   - Highly knowledgeable in building operation, and energy efficiency in existing buildings. In addition, I have more than 15 years teaching experience in the field of climate control technology at different institutions. Proficient in HVAC design, energy audit and cooling and heating equipment upgrade and retrofit. 

2. What do you currently do for work?

   - I currently work for NYU as a Building Engineer/Energy Engineering Manager. I oversee building efficient operation and implement comprehensive energy improvements and equipment upgrade.

3. Have you held any other roles in this field?  

   - Besides, my full employment at NYU, I do teach HVAC and mechanical design at LaGuardia Community College.

4. Please share your educational qualifications, any professional titles, certifications, or other relevant designations you hold.

   - I have a M.S in Energy Management, and I am a Certified Energy Manager, and LEED Associate. I also hold a Refrigeration Operating Engineer License. I am fluent in French, Arabic and Berber (Native language)

   - BOC “Building Operation Certification “and Building Systems Fundamentals

6. What else should your students know about you?

   - I am an avid biker; love soccer and I do spend a lot of time using AutoCAD and Fusion design.

1. What is your area of expertise?

   - Robert “Bobby” Peras, the President and founder of FEAT Solutions, is an energy efficiency expert with over two decades of experience in the field of energy efficiency and utility engineering. With a deep understanding of energy management and a passion for environmental sustainability, Bobby Peras has dedicated his career to helping organizations reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint and improve operations.

2. Have you held any other roles in this field?  

   - Throughout his career, Bobby Peras has worked with a diverse array of clients, including commercial businesses, industrial facilities, and residential properties. He has successfully completed numerous Local Law 84, 87, and 88 projects that have led to significant energy savings and enhanced energy management practices. His innovative approach to completing these projects combines technical expertise with practical solutions tailored to each client's unique needs.

3. Please share your educational qualifications, any professional titles, certifications, or other relevant designations you hold.

   - Bobby Peras holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a MS in Energy Management from New York Institute of Technology, where he developed a strong foundation in building engineering and energy systems.

4. Which class(es) do you teach at EMI?

   - He has been teaching BOC-1 Modules 3 and 4 at the CUNY School of Professional Studies for the past 6 years and will be teaching similar classes for the Building Performance Lab in 2025.

2. What do you currently do for work?

   -  Manage Field Equipment Lending Library (FELL) Collaborate with DCAS and other city agencies to collect pre- and post-installation measurements for M&V projects, Operation & Maintenance, and Building Re-tuning

4. What else should your students know about you?

   - I tried skydiving when I was in my 20's. It was fun, but I won't be doing that again.

1. What is your area of expertise?

   - Data science and machine learning.

2. What do you currently do for work?

   - I serve as Chief Operating Officer of the Cyber Agility Academy, a non-profit training institute helping people certify and upskill in areas of technical project management, AI, data science and analytics, and cybersecurity. 

3. Have you held any other roles in this field?  

   - In technical roles, I have worked as a materials scientist at 3M and fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy. In non-technical roles, I have worked as an Empire State Fellow at the New York State Executive Chamber and engagement manager at EY.

4. Please share your educational qualifications, any professional titles, certifications, or other relevant designations you hold.

   - I am a trained biochemist. I hold degrees in business administration, applied urban science and informatics, public policy, education, and biochemistry.

6. What else should your students know about you?

   - I love baseball. I currently live in Pennsylvania with my wife and three children.

1. What is your area of expertise?

   - I specialize in commissioning and energy engineering, with over 20 years of experience in energy conservation, efficiency strategies, and the development of training programs for building operators and engineering teams.

2. What do you currently do for work?

   - I am the Founder of Opt-In Consultants, a firm dedicated to providing customized training for building operators. We focus on developing programs that enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and resiliency while positively impacting engineering culture. Notable projects include energy conservation and efficiency initiatives for healthcare institutions, universities, and state agencies. I am also a full-time instructor at SUNY Maritime teaching courses in HVAC Design, HVAC Operations and Automation/Controls.

3. Have you held any other roles in this field?

   - Yes, I co-founded Eneractive Solutions' NYC office, which later became part of Edison Energy, where I served as Managing Director. Prior roles include Account Manager at Dome-Tech Group and East Coast Operations Analyst at Teradyne, Inc., as well as early career experience as a Test Engineer at Newport News Shipbuilding.

4. Please share your educational qualifications, any professional titles, certifications, or other relevant designations you hold.

   - I hold a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, with a U.S. Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer License. I am a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Building Commissioning Professional, and Certified Energy Auditor, among other certifications through the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).

6. What else should your students know about you?

   - In addition to my consulting work, I am committed to industry growth through education and have taught accredited courses at various institutions. My approach is collaborative, aiming to empower operators to achieve long-term energy savings and sustainable operations.
